DESCRIPTION: One of the most unusual designs of the genre. The Edsel of clock radios. Love it or hate, but you can't unsee it after you've seen it! Tabletop vacuum tube AM clock radio manufactured by Arvin in 1957 in excellent working and physical condition.
SOUND QUALITY: Picks up AM stations clearly and loudly around the dial without need of external antenna attachment.
CABINET CONDITION: Cabinet is original factory molded light pink plastic. All original factory molded colors through and through. Not repainted. No over spray. Not touched up. No cracks, chips, or major scratches or missing pieces.
KNOBS: Original color matched volume and tuning knobs in excellent condition with no cracks, or chips or warping. No broken attach posts. Sleep timer on top is a replacement.
LOGO: Arvin black factory painted raised logo is in excellent condition. No chipped letters.
DIAL LIGHT: No tuning dial light. Not designed with one. But can be added for an extra charge.
CLOCK: Clock works and keeps accurate time. Clock motor has no buzzing no ticking noises. Alarm and clock set function works and goes off at the correct set times. The clock and tuning numbers are not rubbed off. Clear clock cover is securely attached. Clock and radio function lettering is clear and readable.
INTERNAL ELECTRONICS: All paper and wax capacitors have been replaced with modern equivalents so this radio has another 50+ years or more of playing time! The tubes are working fine. All out-of-spec resistors have been replaced with modern correct value and voltage equivalents. Both Intermediate Frequency Transformers (IFTs) have been rebuilt to ensure static-free performance. There is no loud or pervasive hum. There is no loud or pervasive static between stations. The set has been aligned according to factory specifications. All wiring has been thoroughly checked for possible bridging and weak solder connection. The radio has been thoroughly cleaned and inspected.
POWER CORD: The original power cord and plug are in excellent condition with no cracks, or splits. No exposed wiring.
BACKING BOARD: Original backing board is intact securely attached. All factory printing is readable.
FACTORY LABELS AND STICKERS: No missing factory labels.
PROVENANCE: Previous owner identity is not known. Was gently used then stored in a dry cool environment for a long period of time. No evidence of prolonged exposure to cigarette smoking, moisture, or pets.
