DESCRIPTION: Tabletop tube AM radio manufactured by General Electric in the late 50s in excellent physical and working condition. Lovely little number in factory molded camel tan color plastic.
CABINET CONDITION: The cabinet is in excellent condition with no cracks, chips, or major scratches. Original factory molded tan back and front plastic through and through. No repaint. No over spray. No touch up. This radio is over 60 years old! The "ON", "OFF", "RADIO" lettering is clear and readable, not totally worn off which is often the case. Nice crisp lettering on the sleep timer. The clock face is in excellent condition with no rust, pitting, stains, or oxidation! The tuning dial works fine. No rub off numbers. Gold metal insert is not missing, shiny with some rust pinpricks but not tarnished.
SOUND QUALITY: Picks up AM stations clearly and loudly around the dial without need of external antenna attachment.
CLOCK: Clock works and keeps accurate time. Clock motor is silent no humming no buzzing no ticking noises. Alarm works. Buzzer works. Wake to music or buzzer works. Sleep timer works. Clock time and alarm set time work.
KNOBS: All knobs are original and securely attached. The gold metal caps in the knobs are original not tarnished. Original little clock function knobs.
INTERNAL ELECTRONICS: All paper and wax capacitors have been replaced with modern equivalents so this radio has another 50+ years or more of playing time! The tubes are working fine. Both Intermediate Frequency Transformers (IFTs) have been rebuilt or replaced to ensure static free performance. All out-of-spec resistors have been replaced with modern correct value and voltage equivalents. There is no loud or pervasive hum. There is no loud or pervasive static between stations. The set has been aligned according to factory specifications. All wiring has been thoroughly checked for possible bridging and weak solder connection. The radio has been thoroughly cleaned and inspected.
POWER CORD: The original cord and plug are in excellent condition with no cracks, or splits.
BACKING BOARD: Color matching back cover is original excellent condition. No cracks, no chips, no major scratches.
FACTORY LABELS AND STICKERS:: Bottom factory labels are not missing.
PROVENANCE: Previous owner identity is not known. Was gently used then stored in a dry cool environment for a long period of time. No evidence of prolonged exposure to cigarette smoking, moisture, cooking grease, pets or carpet.
